March 12, 2010 Thanachart Bank, An Affiliate Of The Bank Of Nova Scotia In Thailand, Reached An Agreement With The Bank Of Thailand To Acquire A 48% Stake In Siam City Bank, Thailand's Sixth Largest Bank, For $984 Million. On January 19, 2012, It Acquired A 51% Stake In Banco Colpatria, The Fifth Largest Financial Group In Colombia, For A Total Of $1 Billion In Cash And Stock. In 2013, The Bank Of Nova Scotia Acquired ING Direct's Canadian Savings Business And Changed Its Name To Tangerine Bank In 2014. ING DIRECT Café Handles Some Simple Business In Major Cities.

In May 2017, The 100% Equity Auction Of The Bank Of Nova Scotia Berhad In Malaysia Was Acquired By Cathay United Bank (51%) And Cathay Life Insurance (49%), Two Subsidiaries Of Cathay Financial Holdings. The Transaction Amount Was 255 Million US Dollars, And The Settlement Was Completed In The Second Half Of The Year. In April 2018, Cathay United Bank, A Subsidiary Of Cathay Financial Holdings, And Cathay Life Insurance Announced Their Intention To Terminate The Acquisition Of 100% Stake In The Bank Of Nova Scotia Berhad In Malaysia. The Bank Of Nova Scotia Claimed That The Disruption Of This Transaction Did Not Affect The Company's Financing.

In 2018, The Bank Of Nova Scotia Acquired Montreal Investment Firm Jarislowsky Fraser. Also In 2018, The Bank Of Nova Scotia Completed The Acquisition Of BBVA Group's 68.19% Stake In BBVA Chile For 2.90 Billion Canadian Dollars, And BBVA Chile Was Merged Into Scotiabank Chile. In The Same Year, The Bank Of Nova Scotia Acquired MD Financial Management, Founded In 1957.

In June 2019, OFG Bancorp Announced That It Would Acquire All Branches Of The Bank Of Nova Scotia In Puerto Rico And The Territory Of The U.S. Virgin Islands As Part Of A $550 Million Cash Transaction.
