CTBC Bank, Referred To As CTBC, Is A Large Bank In Taiwan. The Predecessor Of CTBC Bank Was "China Securities Investment Corporation" Founded In 1966 By Koo Zhenfu, With An Initial Capital Of NT $6,000.

On July 9, 1971, China Securities Investment Corporation Was Restructured Into A Trust And Investment Company, So It Was Renamed "China Trust Investment Corporation" With A Capital Of NT $200 Million. The Company Headquarters Moved To "China Trust Building" At No. 122 Dunhua North Road, Songshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan In July 1984. After China Trust Building Was Sold To China Life Insurance At The End Of 1995, It Was Changed To "China Life Dunbei Building".

In 1990, Established An Office In London, England, And Began To Operate Overseas Business.

In 1991, The Stock Was Listed On The Taiwan Stock Exchange With The Stock Code 2815, Making It The First Listed Trust And Investment Company In Taiwan (the Other Two Trust And Investment Companies, Chung Lien Trust And Asia Trust, Were Not Listed). At That Time, The Capital Had Reached NT $10.50 Billion; The Following Year, China Trust Investment Corporation Was Restructured Into A Commercial Bank On July 2, 1992, And Was Therefore Renamed "CTBC Bank" Again.

In 2002, The Ministry Of Finance Opened Up The Establishment Of A Financial Holding Company. CTBC Bank Established CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd. On May 17 This Year Through Share Conversion, And Became A 100% Owned Subsidiary Of CTBC Financial Holding. Since Then, CTBC Group's Financial Business Has Been Dominated By CTBC Financial Holding.

In 2003, CTBC Bank Acquired Metropolitan Bank And Trust Company For NT $19.57 Billion, Making It The Largest Private Bank In Taiwan. In 2004, It Acquired Fengshan Credit Cooperative, Which Was Taken Over By Central Deposit Insurance Corporation, For NT $1.10 Billion.

In 2007, CTBC Bank Acquired Hualien Business Bank, Which Was Also Taken Over By Central Deposit Insurance Corporation, For NT $4.49 Billion, Which Expanded The Number Of Branches To 142, Making It The Sixth Bank In The Country With The Number Of Branches. It Is Also Tied With Cathay United Bank As The Private Bank With The Largest Number Of Branches. In The Same Year, It Also Took Over The Debt Rights Of Cetelem, A Company Of BNP Paribas, In Taiwan. In 2008, It Was Re-acquired And Merged With CTBC Securities, Which Was Also A Subsidiary Of CTBC Financial Holding.

In June 2013, With The Change Of English Name Of CTBC Financial Holding, CTBC Bank Changed Its English Name From "Chinatrust Commercial Bank" To "CTBC Bank". In 2014, The Headquarters Of CTBC Financial Holding Was Relocated To CTBC Financial Park, Nangang District, Taipei City.

In 2016, CTBC Bank Was Fined NT $6 Million By The Financial Supervisory Commission For Serious Violations Of A Number Of Defects. In The Same Year, CTBC Bank Was Fined NT $3 Million By The Financial Supervisory Commission For Failing To Fulfill Its Customer Identity Review (KYC) Duties And Stopped Handling Trust Business Related To Public Acquisitions For Three Months.

In March 2020, The Financial Supervisory Commission Approved The Second Pure Online Bank, LINE Bank (a Connected Commercial Bank), With CTBC Bank As The Original Shareholder.

On April 17, 2020, CTBC Bank Shanghai Hongqiao Branch Opened.

In March 2022, Thailand LHFG Group, Which Was Originally A Shareholder Investment, Was Added As A Subsidiary.

On May 30, 2023, The Financial Supervisory Commission, Due To The Lack Of CTBC Bank's Handling Of Customers' Increases In Online Bank Transfers And ATM Withdrawal Daily Limits, Showed That The Bank Has Not Perfected The Establishment Of Internal Control Systems For Confirming The Rationality And Authenticity Of Customers' Increases In Transaction Limits, And The Management Of Employee Behavior. It Has Violated Regulations And Imposed A Fine Of NT $20 Million According To Law.

On August 21, A Male Staff Member Of CTBC Bank Was Suspected Of Being Linked To A Fraudulent Group, And Was Taken Away By The Police For Investigation By "increasing The Transfer Limit" To Facilitate Money Laundering By Fraudulent Groups.

In December, A Woman Surnamed Zhu Was Involved In Money Laundering For A Fraudulent Group When She Worked For CTBC Bank, And The Taoyuan District Court Prosecuted 22 People. The Taoyuan District Court Today Sentenced Zhu To 6 Years And 6 Months In Prison, And The Whole Case Can Be Appealed; The Taoyuan District Court Also Found That CTBC Bank Was Involved In Criminal Responsibility And Reported It According To Law.
